Costs and damages from the 10 June collision between Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s Brave Tern and Cadeler’s Wind Keeper are estimated at more than DKK 1 billion (EUR 134 million) and cleanup of blade debris from the seabed at Esbjerg has been completed, according to a Danish newspaper report. The Danish Maritime Authority’s preliminary survey, conducted the day after the incident, found that Brave Tern was making 3–4 knots after a 180-degree turn when a bridge team member moved to the starboard wing and assessed blade clearance from the moored Wind Keeper as sufficient; the cargo struck Wind Keeper’s starboard crane at 07:41 local time and contact with the quayside followed about six minutes later, before dynamic positioning was used to regain control. All certificates were valid, no rest-hour violations were identified, and no equipment alarms had sounded; the DMA notes the windage effect of the vertically stowed tower sections and the blades extending approximately 60 metres beyond the starboard side may have had a greater influence on manoeuvring than expected. The survey recorded 12 square metres of starboard hull damage and set a requirement for a safety meeting with bridge personnel before departure.
