Amprion now expects the 2 GW BalWin1 offshore grid connection to be completed on 15 September 2031, a one-year delay caused by additional work on the offshore converter platform design and manufacture and challenging ground conditions at the onshore converter station site; the German Federal Network Agency approved the revised date, and Windbostel Ost wind farm operators RWE and TotalEnergies support the move. The adjustment restores the original 2031 target after an earlier two-year advancement under amended offshore deployment targets. Construction of the onshore cable route continues unaffected, but the same Dragados Offshore–Siemens Energy consortium building the converter stations for both BalWin1 and BalWin2 means Amprion will also apply to postpone BalWin2 once that schedule is finalised.
