On June 10, Fred Olsen Windcarrier’s Brave Tern jack-up collided with the stationary Cadeler jack-up Wind Keeper and the dockside at Port of Esbjerg while loaded with turbine components for RWE’s 1.1 GW Thor wind farm. Parent company Bonheur Group attributed the incident to a lack of situational awareness on the bridge during pilotage. A preliminary Danish Maritime Authority report found the cause unclear, with all equipment working and no alarms; witnesses described a 170-degree turn at three to four knots, and the report noted windage on the vertically stowed 120-metre turbine towers as a possible factor. Brave Tern completed three weeks of unspecified repairs and is ready to return to full service, Bonheur said in its Q2 results presentation.
