Original title: Giant turbine blade falls into ocean, disrupting construction of gigawatt scale offshore wind project
German Federal Police have recovered the detached 20-metre blade section from the Vestas V236-15 MW turbine at He Dreiht, towing it and cutting it into sections before pulling it aboard in full. EnBW deputy CEO and CFO Thomas Kusterer called the late-July failure a one-off and "not a broader technical issue," while noting crews can no longer work at the damaged turbine. Basic commissioning is said to be progressing well, and construction is expected to finish in the coming days.
It is the first confirmation of recovery since EnBW disclosed that work was barred on the damaged turbine and blades from the same production site.
