Ming Yang Smart Energy is pursuing turbine supply contracts for two Danish offshore wind farms awarded to Vattenfall by the Danish Energy Agency. Denmark's Climate Minister Lars Aagaard has stated he would prefer not to see Chinese turbines used, citing security and resilience of critical energy infrastructure, though the government does not select the supplier. A contract would mark Ming Yang's first major breakthrough in Northern Europe, where Vestas and Siemens Gamesa have traditionally dominated. Earlier this year, the UK government withdrew support for a proposed Ming Yang turbine factory in Scotland over national security concerns.
