Smulders upended the first of 64 transition pieces for ScottishPower Renewables’ 960 MW East Anglia 2 offshore wind farm off Suffolk, eastern England, at its Hoboken facility near Antwerp, with the first external platform also installed. The platforms are built in Poland and assembled in Balen, Belgium, before transport to Hoboken; the maiden TP will shortly be lifted onto a mock-up monopile for fit-checking, and the first batch is due to be shipped early next year to Sif’s Maasvlakte 2 terminal in the Netherlands for storage ahead of delivery to the site 32.6 km offshore.
