MacGregor will supply a 165-ton active heave-compensated crane for Jan De Nul's Ulstein SX121 newbuild, under construction at China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI). The order is part of a 1+1 vessel program, with crane delivery scheduled for February 2028.
The vessel, named Isambard Kingdom Brunel after the 19th-century British engineer, is one of two trenching support vessels Jan De Nul announced in March — the other to be converted from a water injection dredger. MacGregor cites its Chinese production presence as giving CMHI direct access to design, installation and commissioning support.
