Integration of the Vestas turbine with Ocergy's OCG-Wind semi-submersible foundation has been completed by Archer and partners including Global Maritime, Navitas Renewables, Wergeland Group, Sarens and Archer Vertikal. The single 3 MW unit will be towed to a site 2 kilometres west of the Culzean gas platform, roughly 220 kilometres off Scotland's east coast, where it is expected to supply about 20 per cent of the platform's electricity demand and reduce gas-turbine consumption. The project is now led by NEO NEXT+ Energy following the March 2026 merger of NEO Energy, Repsol UK and TotalEnergies' UK upstream business. Crown Estate Scotland awarded seabed rights under the INTOG programme in 2023, TotalEnergies launched the project in August 2024, and fabrication began in November 2024.
Context
The turbine integration comes one day after green hydrogen was reported on another operational North Sea platform, underscoring a cluster of offshore decarbonisation demonstrations in UK waters.
