The topsides weigh approximately 38,500 tonnes and will be removed from an unnamed platform on the UK Continental Shelf. The contract, awarded to the AF Offshore Decom–Heerema Marine Contractors consortium, covers engineering, preparation, removal and disposal, with offshore surveys starting immediately and preparatory work stretching over six years, followed by a multi-year removal campaign by Heerema’s vessels and transport to AF Environmental Base Vats for dismantling and recycling within eight years. This is the consortium’s second such award this year, after a February contract for another unnamed North Sea platform removal.
