The 140MW electrolyser, under construction in Bruck an der Leitha, will produce up to 23,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually and deliver it to OMV’s Schwechat refinery via a 22-kilometre pipeline, replacing fossil-based hydrogen and reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 150,000 tonnes per year. The total project cost is €600 million, of which the EIB loan covers nearly three-quarters; operations are targeted for end of 2027.
