The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the petition on standing grounds, ruling that three environmental organizations had failed to show an injury traceable to the Delfin LNG deepwater port license. The decision clears a legal hurdle for the project, which reached a final investment decision in early June on its first phase, committing roughly $5 billion to the Delfin FLNG 1 floating liquefaction vessel. Backed by Global Infrastructure Partners (now part of BlackRock), MOL, Vitol and Diameter Capital Partners, the 4.4 million-tonne-per-annum vessel is expected to begin production in 2030 about 40 miles offshore Louisiana.
