The cabinet is allocating 193 million euros for the temporary Energy Emergency Fund, expecting to assist 500,000 households—far more than in previous years. Eligibility targets households with a gross income up to 130% of the social minimum that spend at least 8% on energy, or those between 130% and 200% spending at least 10%; the fund pays half of the amount above those thresholds. Unlike earlier editions, the support window will remain open for at least four months and will not close when a fixed budget is exhausted; Minister Vijlbrief stated that everyone who qualifies and applies will receive support, with the application opening to be announced in September and assistance provided before winter.
