The 3.25 mtpa plant is operated by Sempra, in which TotalEnergies holds a 16.5 % stake and will offtake 1.7 mtpa over 20 years once commercial operations begin this fall. During the initial ramp‑up phase Total is the sole offtaker, and the first cargo has sailed for Asia. The facility is the first LNG export plant on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, offering the shortest seaborne route for U.S. gas to Asia compared with Atlantic‑basin sites that normally transit the Panama Canal, at a moment when the halt in Hormuz traffic has tightened supply to smaller Asian buyers.
