Port Alpha is projected to generate $160 billion in regional and $264.5 billion in state economic impact over its lifetime, with 10,000 direct jobs and $750 million in annual payroll, according to figures released with the site’s formal confirmation. The shipyard will initially occupy 835 acres at the Port of Brownsville, expandable to nearly 4,400 acres, and will be capable of producing vessels up to 850 feet long, with future expansion supporting hulls of more than 1,200 feet. Meanwhile, Saronic’s Franklin, Louisiana, yard—acquired earlier in 2025—is receiving a $300 million investment to add 300,000 square feet of production space for the 180-foot Marauder autonomous vessel, which was designed and launched in under a year.
