The dredging would remove a depth restriction that currently limits Aframax tankers at the Westridge Marine Terminal to about 80% capacity, and the Nation argues regulators failed to assess the broader environmental and rights impacts of fully laden tanker transits through Burrard Inlet. The original Trans Mountain expansion assessment assumed the 80% loading restriction would persist.
