The City Council voted unanimously on June 9 to confirm the reappointment, extending her tenure on the five-member board to a second six-year term ending June 30, 2032. Weissman was first named to the Harbor Commission in July 2020 by then-Mayor Robert Garcia and has since served terms as board president, vice president, and secretary. Before joining the commission she was senior advisor and transportation deputy to Mayor Garcia, following a public-sector career in transportation planning, goods movement, sustainability, and budget policy. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Long Beach Symphony and has held board roles with the Long Beach Public Library Foundation, Arts Council for Long Beach, Sister Cities of Long Beach, and the Long Beach Fair Housing Foundation.
