The PlemCat test site offshore Spain’s Mediterranean coast obtained its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) from MITECO, published in the BOE on 8 July, clearing the path for the NextFloat Project to deploy X1 Wind’s X100 8.5 MW floating platform, which recently received DNV Basic Design certification. The X100, a tension-leg platform with a 1,500‑ton steel design and a 160‑metre downwind turbine, will operate for several years to support final certification of the X150 platform for 20+ MW turbines.
