UK energy minister Michael Shanks has written to NESO chairman Paul Golby expressing the department’s full confidence in the board and welcoming the external investigation into alleged control-room record-keeping omissions. Ofgem separately said it will provide oversight of the inquiry through an independent panel to ensure staff can give evidence anonymously, and instructed NESO to deliver a post-event analysis of system stress during the week of 22 June.
It is the first formal political and regulatory response to the investigation that NESO launched on 13 July.
