Russia's Defence Ministry stated on 8 August 2026 that it used precision air-launched weapons and attack drones to strike military warehouses in Odesa containing communications and electronic warfare equipment. In Mykolaiv, Russian forces hit a cargo vessel carrying military equipment and a warehouse storing weapons and military supplies, as well as a second dry cargo vessel transporting military supplies for Ukraine's armed forces. Reuters could not independently verify the claims.
The strikes follow a series of Russian attacks on Ukraine's Black Sea port infrastructure that killed 10 people on a corn ship in July and led shipowners to halt calls at Ukrainian ports.
