Renewable generation reached 152.2 billion kWh in the first half of 2026, lifting the share of electricity consumption to a record 58%, up nearly three percentage points year-on-year. Onshore wind output rose 7.0%, offshore wind by 28.3%, and photovoltaics by 3.7%, while hydropower fell 7.7% due to low rainfall. Gross generation totalled 263.5 billion kWh against consumption of 262.4 billion kWh. New capacity additions in the period comprised 8.3 GW of PV, 2.5 GW of onshore wind, and 0.9 GW of offshore wind, the latter already exceeding the 0.5 GW installed during all of 2025.
