The 100MW/200MWh Hertz 2 battery energy storage system in Aruküla, Harju County, Estonia, has commenced operations, completing a 200MW/400MWh platform with the earlier 100MW/200MWh Hertz 1 in Kiisa. The project is a joint venture of Evecon, Corsica Sole, and Mirova, connected to the Elering transmission grid, and will participate in frequency regulation, day-ahead, and intraday electricity markets. The two facilities represent a total private investment of €170 million, with the investment decision taken at the end of 2023 without subsidies.
