The remotely operated submersible dredge planer (SDP), designed and built by Johnson Brothers Ltd for Northland Regional Council, is the third and final caulerpa removal tool developed from the NZ$10 million allocated in 2024. Trials at Omākiwi Cove in Northland, supported by the Cawthron Institute and Ngāti Kuta and Patukeha hapū, demonstrated mechanical performance and maneuverability, while environmental impact assessment continues.
