NKT's new cable-lay vessel NKT Eleonora has arrived at Vard shipyard in Brattvaag, Norway, for final construction and outfitting. The vessel, due to start work in 2027, will carry 23,000 tonnes of cable—more than double the 11,000-tonne twin-turntable capacity of NKT Victoria, which entered service in 2017—and can lay three power cables simultaneously, including metallic return cables for large-scale 525-kV HVDC projects. NKT Eleonora can run on HVO/marine diesel oil or methanol, with a shore-power connection enabling zero-emissions loading at NKT's Karlskrona cable plant.
