The consortium OKAOGE — comprising JERA Nex bp, Electric Power Development, Tohoku Electric Power, and ITOCHU — received the certificate from Bureau Veritas Japan after completing a conformity assessment covering site conditions, design basis evaluation, integrated load analysis, and support structure design. Kajima Corporation, partnered with Kobori Research Complex and COWI, handled monopile foundation design; Vestas Japan is responsible for turbine and tower design; and A.O.V. Arup & Partners Japan acts as owner's engineer. The project is Japan's first fixed-bottom offshore wind farm in a general sea area awarded through public tender, the first in Japan using turbines above 10 MW, and the world's first fixed-bottom 15 MW-class project designed with seismic considerations. Operations remain targeted for June 2028.
Context
This certificate follows the July 2022 conformity certificate for the Vestas 15 MW turbine design for the same project, moving the development from equipment-level to full-facility certification under the Japanese Electricity Business Act.
