The Derril Water solar park shutdown is expected to cost its nearly 10,000 members about £2m in lost revenue, with the project unable to generate until September after the National Energy System Operator ordered a curtailment to prevent voltage-related thermal overload of the local grid. The cooperative raised £20m from members and secured a £22m bank loan; it does not expect compensation or insurance for the lost summer revenue, and the required network upgrades, first identified in 2023, were delayed from 2025 until September 2026.
