NAPA and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly conduct performance analysis using actual operational data from vessels fitted with SHI’s SAVER Wing, a rigid two-element wing sail that generates forward thrust from wind energy. The MoU also covers SHI’s plans to integrate NAPA Voyage Optimisation into its Samsung Autonomous Ship (SAS) platform for fuel-efficient routing, and to use NAPA’s ‘Operational Simulation’ digital twins to verify vessel efficiency from the design stage. This MoU builds on a joint project started in May 2026 focusing on SHI’s SAVER Wing designs.
